Albstoffe is part of the company Maute + Renz Textil GmbH. The company was founded in 1982 in the Swabian Jura (also known as the Schwäbische Alb). To this day, the family business produces its products in and around the town of Albstadt, hence the name Albstoffe. As one of the first producers, the company received the GOTS certificate. Since 2015, Albstoffe has also produced fabrics for retail. Designer Susanne Firmenich, who lives in Hamburg, designs cheerful fabrics for Albstoffe under the name "Hamburger Liebe".
