Albstoffe is part of the company Maute + Renz Textil GmbH. The company was founded in 1982 in the 'Schwäbische Alb', also known as the Swabian Jura. To this day, the family business produces its products in and around the municipality of Albstadt, hence the name Albstoffe.

As one of the first producers, the company received the GOTS certificate. Since 2015, Albstoffe has also been producing fabrics for retail.
